Painting, to me, is visual poetry, a way to translate experience into representational fine art with the same clarity and emotional truth that a poet seeks in words. I’ve always been inspired by the idea that art and poetry can complement one another, as William Blake believed, yet each must also stand on its own. When they meet, it should feel like a celebration for the senses: parallel forms of expression converging toward the same moment of insight.
Not every painting has a corresponding poem, of course. Although I’ve enjoyed both art forms, my brief success with writing only deepened my gratitude for the brush. Through oil painting, whether using palette‑knife texture or expressive brushwork, I try to capture the world with a poet’s simplicity, distilling what I observe in landscapes, seascapes, figurative scenes, and everyday life into images that resonate with atmosphere, light, and emotional realism.
Like the poet, I’m driven by inspiration found in everything I see and experience. My goal is always the same: to translate those moments to canvas with honesty, clarity, and the timeless beauty of contemporary representational realism.
